Yosselyne Tapia (Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, 1998) is an artist working in painting and video art. In her paintings, forms emerge through the accumulation of layers of paint, processes of solvent-induced corrosion, and tears, scratches, and incisions on the pictorial surface that expose underlying layers and traces of previous states. Her work draws from contemporary visual culture, digital imaginaries, and speculative fiction, engaging with the continuities between images, organisms, minerals, and technologies.

 

Through these intersections, she explores processes of erosion, sedimentation, and transformation that reveal the persistent vitality of matter, attending to forces of desire, combustion, and reorganization that both produce and exceed form. Her paintings consider forms through states of gestation and decomposition: temporary assemblages sustained by that which precedes them, transforms them, and will outlive them.

She holds a B.A. in Arts from the University of Monterrey (2019–2024). Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions at spaces including Castilla Klyuyeva, Ardearte, Transliterado, and MARCO's Educational Gallery. Among her recent exhibitions is the solo show baba conjuro (2025), presented at Sala Gam in Mexico City. She has also participated in group exhibitions such as the 4th Nuevo León State Art Prize exhibition, organized by CONARTE in 2024. In 2026, she took part in MATERIAL Art Fair as part of the University of Monterrey School of Art and Design booth.
